Man BItes God Music Video Competition [09 Sep 2008|12:46am]

Australian band, Man Bites God are bribing aspiring film makers with a chance to win AU$500 by making a music video featuring a Man Bites God song of their choice.

“A number of fans have made their own music videos for the band over the last few years and we wanted to recognise their efforts with a competition”, explains the band’s drummer and professional video director Chris Tomkins. “We’re not expecting anything amazingly polished for the $500 prize, we just want to see what great ideas are out there.”

The competition runs until November and is a simple as choosing a Man Bites God song, making a video and uploading to Man Bites God’s YouTube channel in order to be judged in November.

The band are looking for anything from surreal to literal, live-action, machinema, animation or some other technique that hasn’t been invented yet.

Details of the competition are available on the band's website http://www.manbitesgod.com or by watching the video on their youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/manbitesgod.

RE: Indie Movie Screening (NC)!!! [28 Aug 2005|09:16am]

Guys, my name is Joe Scott, and I am the news director for an indie college radio station in NC (www.wuag.net). This Thursday we will be hosting a one-night only screening of the rock 'n roll documentary "DERAILROADED: INSIDE THE LIFE AND MIND OF 'WILD MAN' LARRY FISCHER."

This screening is a rare opportunity for North Carolinians because we are getting the chance to screen a movie before it has even been released. I have talked to other indie filmmakers who are say they would definitely be interested in following suit with their films if this screening is a smash.

Let's make North Carolina cool guys. Check this movie out. Click the cut below to find out more information about the film and the screening.

Short Film [08 May 2005|08:30pm]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Hi, I'm new to the community!

I'm a junior at UNC, and I'm shooting a short film starting in August or September.

I'm in need of some crew -- mainly a DOP and perhaps an assistant director.

It's non-paying, but I do hope to enter a number of festivals in spring of 06.

It's going to be shot in Chapel Hill and in the surrounding area, and shot in DV (with a canon XL1 or XL2).

Let me know if you're interested!

The TIFN Green Bean Screenings have become a roaring success, attracting a
full house nearly every month. We want to thank those of you who have become
loyal viewers and invite everyone else to come and experience indie filmmaking!

Every month TIFN scours the globe for eclectic and interesting independent
films. Most of what we screen features local talent and/or crew, so come see
what’s been going on in your own back yard! Our goal is to give filmmakers a
place to show their work and to encourage the making of independent films in
the Triad. As an added bonus, many of the filmmakers attend the screening and
are willing to do a Q&A after their film is shown. It’s a good way to get
some insight into how and why indie films are made.

The line-up of films has yet to be set, but you can expect another
announcement of what we plan to screen.

Welcome... [08 Apr 2005|10:59pm]

This community, though young and without a single member besides the founder, aspires to bring together people in the Research Triangle Park area who aspire to one day work in the film/television industry. The goal is to not only exchange thoughts and ideas, but to hopefully PRODUCE something.

If you have a knack for or even interest in writing, directing, acting, lighting... ANYTHING, and have the desire to put your talent to use (if only for laughs and the prospect of meeting some peers), join up and let's see where it goes.
